Do You Need to Care for Veneers Differently Than Your Original Teeth?

Do You Need to Care for Veneers Differently Than Your Original Teeth? When you get dental veneers to cover some small imperfection in your smile, you are given a list of strict things to do to take care of them. This is to help protect them and to help them last as long as possible.

If you need a refresher on how to care for your dental veneers, then here are a few tips to help you care for them. This can help you keep them on your teeth for many years to come.

How to Care for Dental Veneers Properly

When it comes to taking care of your dental veneers, you need to do some things just as you do with the rest of your non-veneered teeth. You need to brush your teeth at least two times per day. Plus, you also need to make sure you are flossing and rinsing with a high-quality mouthwash at least once per day. This is true for all of your teeth.

Specifically for your veneers, you need to make sure you use the right products to keep them clean. It is believed that using baking soda-based toothpastes can scratch your veneers and sometimes loosen the adhesive. You should avoid it if you want to not take any chances with this being true. You also need to use the teeth with the veneers carefully.

Since veneers are very thin, they do not have the same type of bite strength as a traditional tooth. Do not use those teeth to open items or bite down on anything hard. Granted, you should not be doing that with your teeth anyway, but to some, it is habit and they do it accidentally.
